Lying and exaggerating your own abilities in a rational dickfuck facada like theldorrin does is probably more useful in meatspace then FTU |

The area of my GEEKDOM was miniatures wargaming, specifically Warhammer.
Anyway, I played a ton of Risk when I was younger. Hero Quest was also awesome, as people have stated earlier.
I like Settlers of Catan. |

It's hard to believe that you could lose in the long run by evaluating your chances based on the cards without regard for your opponents' bets.
A more advanced algorithm might win money faster, but that's got to win against average players! |

The real loophole is money management, and if you could program a computer to do that, you could already do it on ur own |

REal Poker Players play the cards last. First you play the people, then you play money management, and then the cards, and even then later then youd think.
Its more about deduction as to why your opponent would raise, check, check raise, call, bluff etc. on a given hand. Without this knowledge a computer would have to play for some obnoxiously long time for this not to matter. |

Outland, you will never win at online blackjack, or blackjack in any venue where card counting is not an option. Card counting is the only way to have an edge, outside of unheard of, player-beneficial rules, which don't exist anywhere for obvious reasons.
Mathematically-perfect blackjack strategy isn't hard for a human to learn (even I learned it!), but the house still has anywhere between .25 and .75% edge, and that's enough to bust everyone in the long run.
HOWEVER, in the old days online blackjack was profitable by exploiting sign-up and redeposit bonuses, which basically involve the casino giving you free money, then requiring a certain amount of play-through before any of the bonus could be cashed out. If you played perfectly and wagered small, you'd probably lose, but all you'd lose is some of the house's money, at which point you could cash out the rest for yourself.
But you can't do that anymore because too many people were DOING THIS, and the casinos put measures into place. They either made the play-through requirement at blackjack so high that you'd grind away the whole bonus by the time you met the wagering requirement, or they'd just exclude blackjack entirely for bonus clearing purposes.
They would let you play anything else though, because player odds at pretty much all other casino games are shit. |

One thing about card games is that it's different to play online from playing in person. Because you can read your opponent.
Whereas with games that have perfect knowledge, that's not really a factor. |

The great thing about Necromunda was that you didn't really HAVE to buy figures. You could just take the guys who came with the game and pretend they had different equipment.
There's no way you could get away with that in Warhammer!
Also, I'm glad Mike mentioned Battletech. That game is excellent. DID YOU GUYS EVER DESIGN YOUR OWN MECHS? It's awesome how you could create shit that was completely within the rules but could destroy about 8 mechs singlehandedly. |

God, there was this one time in Battletech where I took a lance and a half of light and medium mechs up against 12 CLAN HEAVY AND ASSAULT MECHS AND WON. It was one of the greatest things ever. I had a 40 ton mech run up to a Behemoth, KICK IT, BLOW ITS LEG OFF, THEN CURB STOMP ITS FUCKING HEAD AND DESTROY IT.

I dont get your point chris. The whole point is at online blackjack card counting IS an option, whereas you couldnt bring the required devices in a casino.
It seems like even if the host has a full 1 percent edge, someone with master blackjack bot software could break the banks
YOu say the house would stay maintain an edge even with card counting. Nevertheless, the idea still sounds plausible. Blackjack has been beaten before
