Chris, is there a method of converting English words to Japanese gibberish, or is it just something you pick up after having seen enough words to recognize patterns? I know some words have multiple Katakana spellings, but some are more accepted than others, and I wonder if there are rules for certain sounds that I'm missing.

Japanizizing foreign words is more something you get a feel for.

In that it's not really an EXACT SCIENCE, but at the same time you can't just do whatever you feel like.

The "prolonged vowel" bar is the trickiest thing. It takes artistry to get that right.

I don't have a problem with those as much as I do the l/r's and words that end in consonants. I always want to end with a 'u' sound, because it's generally the quietest, but I don't think that's necessarily always the case.

Would write my title differently?

For words that end in t and d, "o" is the default trailing sound.

"U" is the default trailing sound for s's and g's and b's and k's and f's and r's.
