I suppose both would produce different results.

I'm more thinking of the PC rpg genre that combined Adventure and roleplaying games essentially. In Maniac Mansion style there would be a lot of redundant skills so it would mostly just be personal preference.

I'm thinking that Yogurtman or Theldorrin is the most expendable of my team. Theldorrin because he'd melt in sunlight and Yogurtman because we'd probably have to bring Yogurtwoman along if she'd even let him go. I'd definitely have Yogurtman in the Roy Campbell role, if that's not cheating.

In their place I'd add Seru and Rice. Rice would have to dress like Sheung-Hui Cho, though.

I would take people I like, not really based on their abilities at all.

Or at least who had DIFFERENT ENOUGH PERSONALITIES. I would obviously be the dumb HOTHEAD guy who sometimes gets into goofy situations.

1. Peter
At least marginally knowledgeable about survival and weaponry, which is more than can be said of anyone else I can think of.

2. Yogurtman
Something to be said about his historical knowledge and also a very good glue to bind the team together.

3. The Vinny Mac
Possibly not the largest, but almost definitely would be more willing to give his life in Marv-like ways than other big men such as Mautty and Seru.

4. Magic Juan
Seems very sure of his fighting skills and as such is the only person here, besides me, who seemingly has that to his credit.

5. Matthew Outland
Absolutely insane, probably a scrappy fighter and would definitely be willing to die in battle, even if unintentionally. At the very least, I wouldn't feel bad if he did.

Why I did not choose popular answers:

Theldorrin - People seem to be giving him the rub for intelligence, but his areas of expertise really wouldn't have any useful application in this quest (and I'm sure that Peter and Yogurtman combined gives me all the Computer Science skills I would need).

Seru - Definitely a big man and, if motivated, is told to be a great fighter, but I seriously doubt he would risk his life for us dicks.

Mautty - Is probably five and a half feet and sixty pounds in real life.

Morgan - Would only end up getting raped. Maybe she'd end up falling in love with me, but six hours later she'd just fall in love with Magic Juan.

I think this would be more interesting if several different stories were given as a background for the end of the world. And then we could pick a team for each one, and explain given the circumstances.

Ie. Crazy madman trying to destroy the world is different than vast shadow conspiracy, which is different from aliens invading, or a robot uprising.

Plus it doesn't always have to be saving the world. Maybe it can be who you'd want to take a cross-country trip with or form an American Pie virginity-ending pact with.

My party:

1. Seika- We would need a convincing liar outside of my already formidable charisma attribute. Hubris would betray the party.

2. Rice- Has the most powerful Limit Break

3. Mautty- My last fighter, he would from a barbarian land and one of our quests would rely on him returning only to find everyone dead.

4. ALDP- His ADOM powers would grant us ultimate sorcery.

5. Jason- My party is very charisma heavy, but I'm hoping that it would keep us out of a lot of fights

I felt sheepish about being included on anyone's lists until I saw that in those cases Seika and Wandering Merchant were also included.

I would fire my entire party and cheat my stats to the highest level possible without crashing the game.
