I stopped caring about the election after Bernie lost.
Reading the butthurt comments from people on my Facebook timeline was the sweetest Schadenfreude harvest I've experienced in quite some time.
I'm not happy that he won, mind you, but the the troll in me couldn't help but love the salty reactions. Being on the sidelines for this election was so satisfying. I didn't have to do any mental gymnastics and justify people's bullshit. I saw them BOTH for the pieces of shit that they were. I was hoping voter turnout would be low as a sign of protest but it was 4% higher, oh well.
And to all the people saying the red voters are racist, eat a dick. The people who voted for Trump are the same ones who voted for Obama for one or two terms. It's not like all those blues in the last election stopped voting. Not when the voter turnout is HIGHER. It's the SAME fucking voting pool!

What Utils said, and also, lots of other things, especially with the "all of Trump's supporters are sexists and white racists!" part of the narrative.
Trump not only had much stronger-than-expected numbers with minorities and women, he actually did BETTER with all of those groups than Romney did, when "Romney is a sexist racist" wasn't even a meme.
There are a lot of things to fear about a Trump presidency that are bigger than all of this identity-politics hooey. Environmentally (for example), it'll probably be pretty bad!
Not as bad as the Cold War 2 with Russia that Hillary was already starting, which would have gotten hot I think, but it'll be pretty bad.
I have very much enjoyed the Dilbert guy's blog's take on the election. |
