I'm sure some colored person would think it eurocentric to overrate Greece; but even were that the case it makes more sense to give credit to the Chinse, for arguably if not probably inventing paper, compass, and gunpower


Or the Egyptians and Indians, who did as much to start civilization and math; or even the babylonians, who may actually have had republica city states before greece did.......

I just don't get why I'm supposed to think of Persia as this formidable country. They fail 2 invasions of Greece despite overwhelming numbers, and they get conquered by a Macedonian (who have since demonstrated that they are just some shithole like Iran)

Persia then gets conquered by Arabs and mongols and is unable to reverse the damage to their already retarded civilization.

Athenian naval superiority after the battle of Salamis helped blockade the straits and ruin Persian logistics. Thing is, I'm not sure how an entire empire loses a naval battle against a city.
