I'm going to fucking say this across Theldorrin's nose but the Baldur's Gate series is beyond excellent (yellow skulls appear).
For someone just getting into D&D based video games it's a great place to start, and more importantly it's very fun!! |

No game did 2nd Edition rules very well because the rules are so complicated.
I don't remember Baldur's Gate having skills, even. |

Are you saying that FTUW should have D&D rules? |

I've never understood how Dungeons and Dragons works, because it seems like the DM can pretty much make anything happen, and to have someone randomly fall off a cart and die for no reason makes that guy a super dick.
Also, what keeps the DM from leading the party into a magical forest with little bugs that are worth like 10000 experience points, and everyone levels up like crazy from just walking through the forest stepping on bugs?
It seems like a Ouiji board, where someone completely controls all circumstances, and can basically make ghosts fuck your mom while everybody is in the basement. |

From my experience a DM's only purpose to live is from destroying your party with an owlbear.

Well, generally the reason the DM doesn't do insane shit like give everyone 100,000 xp is that it isn't fun.
Unless you for some reason enjoy that, in which case that probably is what your DM will do.
That's the magic of D&D! |

What Yogurtman said.
Generally if you don't like your DM you make someone else do it. |

The DM will work with you like a real life manager, he will ween off everyone he dislikes, level up people he enjoys, and have complaints from customer service constantly. |

Really we should be talking about Necromunda.
I don't think I've ever once played D&D with reasonably intelligent people. |

I really didn't expect this fucking WEAK ASS D&D talk from FTU.
Did someone rent ten copies of the Wizard of Oz, because look at all these straw men! |

I think I'd be very angry if I was forced to play in the Dragonlance campaign setting.
Faerun, Mystara and Planescape are the only decent AD&D settings.
Making your own is always the best though, because then you don't have to stick to standard fantasy shit if you don't want to. |
