This season was pretty good.

I didn't like Lumen leaving, nor do I find her motivations believable.

Lumen: "*some vague shit about not feeling comfortable with Dexter and his ways, despite that this is a person with whom she now shares an incredibly intense bond that is more intimate than any that she shares with anyone else in the world*"

More like "Julia Stiles was only under contract for one season, so we had to come up with this quick and easy way of writing her out of the show and shove it into the last five minutes"!

Also, Triple Life posted before I watched the finale, so I CAREFULLY scrolled down to the post, put my hand up against the screen, crept my hand slowly across it word by word, got as far as "I was feeling really good during the season finale and then Dexter..." STOPPED THERE, and waited until I watched it to read the rest of the post!!!

It's going to be weird waiting an entire year to watch new episodes.

I started watching this in January, got through the first three seasons in a month, watched Season 4 when it came out on DVD, and then downloaded Season 5 each week as it aired.

5 years in 11 months!

But now I'm slumming on the bus with everybody else.

I don't think Lumen's explanation for why she had to leave was that bad. She had no more reason to kill, she was no longer consumed with that need, and their only real connection was that they both wanted to kill. If they had anything else in common, they sure as hell didn't show it at any point. And, really, what was Dexter's interest in Lumen besides an excuse to kill and the relief of having someone to share his secret with?

I get what she was saying, though I guess she could have given it a week to see how she feels, but that's not convenient for a season finale.

It wasn't THAT bad, but if they were just going to do that, why not write it as more of an "all business" kind of relationship?

It WAS at the beginning, but the problem with the way it all ended is that they started steering it another way, and it built up to them fucking, and then Dexter totally fell in love with her.

I didn't really give a shit about Lumen though I thought the finale would end up differently for her. I was more upset with the entire Quinn plotline. Absolutely nothing he did made any fucking sense. "uh well I guess dexter probably is a serial killer but I don't wanna make debra mad at meeee..." and then it just ends because he was let off since a single tiny bit of evidence didn't slam dunk him into guilt for murdering libby. Also, talk about a fucking letdown, Libby was the last thing of interest going on in the show and they pretty much shitcanned that subplot and all its potential in a single episode. I was pretty shocked and pumped by the season finale last year thinking the show would get awesome again but obviously it doesn't matter what is built up since they'll just eliminate it within about 10 seconds of contrived ultrashit.

I was also sad to see Robocop die.

I just realized, while looking at Julia Stiles' fimography, that there is no reason that she should feel as familiar to me as she does.

It's not like I watched any of that shit!

Does that after happen to anyone else, with an actor? You're like, "OH, IT'S SO AND SO," like it's this household name to you, and you find yourself having all sorts of nuanced opinions about them and know every birthmark and freckle, but then you actually look into it and you realize that you've seen maybe one thing that they were in?

How does that happen? What's the deal with that?

I was sad whrn the legacy of Robocop was raped by adding sequels to a movie that was pretty much perfect.

I knew this bullshit show would be too pussy ass to go all the way with Debster incest or with Dexter dying. I almost thought he was gonna take her and jump in the ocean to drown, but nope, this is a SHITTY BULLSHIT SHOW. I guess the end of the series is as irrelevant as everything else about the show but I'll probably rewatch it someday if just to confirm that the season with John Lithgow is basically the only one that needs to exist. There's something really fascinating to me about the shittiness of Dexter!!!!

The ending was pretty much the only part I liked, if only because it was so tonally different from every other part of the show.

It's like, hey, how about we *don't* end an episode with Dexter making a strained, shitty metaphor?
