The story and voice work for that game was amazing. Too bad the gameplay was so gay.

Well honestly not really. The original Blood Omen is a pretty incredible game for the time it came out and there's a surprising amount of strategy for the combat considering it's just an over the top view Zelda style game.

Soulreaver really did represent the first action game that wasn't Zelda to do 3d adventure well, and it presented some interesting concepts (such as using the environment to kill enemies). The nether realm is also pretty creative (even if it is my least favorite part of the game). The game's biggest flaws are that none of the secrets are even remotely worth getting, and the game has somewhat of a half finished feel story wise (there was still a vampire brother to fight, and there was no justification of the human presence in the game and the human city went unused, also you don't fucking kill Kain).

Soulreaver 2 is more of the same with better puzzles and graphics, and much faster paced combat (ready access to the Soulreaver, less need to use the environment in kills). Unfortunately it nixed the boss fights (the best part!), and the story rather than answering any questions is just an excuse to stretch the series out for a million more games (secret gods manipulating ancient evil races sealed in another dimension manipulating an evil wizard manipulating time to manipulate humanity to cause the downfall of Kain so he can't manipulate Raziel into changing their destinies or some gay shit like that). The gameplay is still decent even if the game is exceptionally short.

I stand by that Blood Omen 2 had some really good ideas (and some good boss fights). If only it hadn't been designed by retards who hadn't bothered to beat the first game and thus had no clue about the plot, and they had been given a budget of more than five dollars.

Defiance was also a decent idea because frankly Devil May Cry combat with Legacy of Kain puzzles and plot should have been awesome. Too bad the combat was bland and poorly designed lacking any of the difficulty or depth of Devil May Cry (simplistic difficulty and AI combined with shallow combo system and pointless experience system). The puzzles were virtually nonexistant, and I fucking hate it when games make you go through levels twice in the storyline with essentially no changes (fuck you, Halo!). At least the story was good even if the big twist was contradictory to the implications of the second game (so the elder god is the ancient hidden evil, gay and lazy...). The biggest problem plotwise is that it ended on a Cliffhanger, and the series is probably dead (also they killed Raziel, and although Kain is better that's still pretty gay).
