In this thread, we talk about old but great games that have come down a lot in price but are cool to play!

Last week I got Chronicles of Riddick - Assault on Dark Athena (and Escape from Butcher Bay HD) from Gamestop, complete in box, for ten bucks! I've been meaning to play these games since I heard the first title caused such a stir, being a licensed game that surpassed the source material (or that's what people say).

I really like it! I feel it sort of bridges the gap between classic FPS and tactical FPS. You have semi-regenerating health, the ability to kill lights and use the darkness in your favor and overall some pretty great writing. The atmosphere and voice acting rule here. The work they did with Butcher Bay definitely makes it look as though it was released very early during the current console generation.

My only complaint is how fast enemies seem to find you in the dark after you shoot them, even when they don't have the lamps on for their weapons. They're fucking accurate! And unlike Call of Duty you can die with like three or four good shots.

I recommend this for people who enjoyed games like Batman Arkham City/Asylum, Resistance, Splinter Cell and maybe even Metal Gear. There IS a stealth element in the games, except it's more "hide in the dark and shoot people" instead of fighting in close quarters.

I'll talk about Splatterhouse next time.
