So, I put off watching this show for a long time because it was hyped up so much that I figured it would either a) be disappointing or b) live up to the hype and then prevent me from enjoying any other TV show ever again because they're all inferior.
Then I finally watched it, and it actually more or less lives up to the hype!
I like how you could continue making this show literally forever. Season six would star Michael as Omar, Dookie as Bubbles, and that evil-ass eight year old as Avon + Marlo to the power of Pol Pot. |

I guess I need to watch this show so that it stops getting universal accolades. _________________ @}-,-'- *~*~* Member of the FTU Elegant Tea Party Society *~*~* -'-,-{@ |

I decided halfway through the first season that Stringer and Avon were the greatest fictional drug dealers of all time, but the fact that they eventually fell makes me rethink that somewhat. Still, I think they're right up there with Sosa from Scarface (who would make the list only because he has the resources to have 500 guys storm Tony Montana's compound within like an hour of their falling-out).
This is an example of the kind of post I would have liked to have made as I was watching season one, but I knew that if I did Mike Payne or Vinny would pop up to tell me exactly where and when everyone dies. |

I want to do a custom title theme now, but as with Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the problem is that almost everyone is awesome.
Basically I just want to give someone the custom title "Omar Little", because he's gay AND black AND one of the biggest badasses of all time. It seems very appropriate, except for the part about being badass.

In the same way that Lost should have been spun off into a show about Sawyer and Miles as cops, The Wire should have been spun off into a Fox News talking heads show starring the character of Jay Landsman. |

If you watched season six of Lost (which I am guessing you didn't) you can't deny that Sawyer and Miles as cops would have been better than the show that actually aired. |

I feel like Omar being gay was consciously tacked on in order to give the character a twist. It just seems shoehorned onto him somehow.
I liked the second season the best. Though, I've only seen the first three.
Honestly I don't find the show very compelling. It is extremely well-everythinged, and I will watch the rest eventually, but I am not ridiculously excited about it.
I prefer shows that are shittier and more brainlessly suspenseful/entertaining. Like Dexter.
I mean, I know that the Wire is the best thing ever and blah blah whatever, and everybody's right, but still. It's so thoroughly un-fun. |

I was able to watch every episode of Reba, but Lost was just too much for me to bear. _________________ @}-,-'- *~*~* Member of the FTU Elegant Tea Party Society *~*~* -'-,-{@ |

Omar's sexuality is, like many things on the show, the trait of an actual person who inspired the character. _________________ Last edited by God on Fri Apr 05, 33 4:00 am; edited 1 time in total |

I wish I could think of better Marlo Stanfield quotes, but really most of his power comes from looking like a sociopath.
I do remember the one where Prop Joe is trying to create an alliance with him and one of the benefits would be extra security to which he responds mid-sentence, "Don't nobody fuck with me now."
I love it because after that point, Prop Joe realizes that Marlo is probably going to murder the shit out of him in the future, which he does. |

The entire "I'll take any motherfucker's money" scene always struck me as a good audition monologue.
I apologize if that makes me sound vapid and bourgeois. _________________ Last edited by God on Fri Apr 05, 33 4:00 am; edited 1 time in total |
