My all-new, pain-free Jeopardy! thread (spoilers) |
|
|
The champion Jay is a goddamn murderous beast. I hated him yesterday for searching out the Daily Doubles and noobing them up but then I realized he was just making sure none of his opponents got them!! I was very impressed by his use of that tactic tonight. Oh yeah speaking of last night's episode, seeing that "What Liz Lemon is supposed to look like" woman bomb so bad that she couldn't be in Final Jeopardy was agony. It was pretty clear from her first episode that she didn't have THE RIGHT STUFF.
Tonight's episode was really a barn burner, which is funny because that was one of the answers (by which I mean "one of the correct responses"). Julianna's plummet to -1,800 before the first commercial break was very hard to watch, especially her beaming as she said "THE NETHERLANDS!" to a question under South American Geography. I was glad to see her get out of the hole but also glad she didn't win.
The Second City guy was brutal to watch too. I laughed at his "Three out of four Ghostbusters" joke but the audience was silent and he made a face like he knew. When he was saying the entire abbreviations in WHAT DO U STAND FOR and joking around it was extremely tough. If he had won I think there would quickly be a problem with him trying to be funny. Then again, if he won I might not even have a problem with it. I find my opinions of people change dramatically once they're THE CHAMP.
I hope Jay wins again tomorrow. I hope he wins... forever. |

Lexy's parents got a Tivo, and we set it to record five Jeopardy!s at a time, so I watch it now, but we don't go over there all the time, so I miss a bunch.
Anyway, we're going to be there this weekend while they're out of town, so I'll be able to see this whole run of shows. |

I'm also gonna use this thread to talk about ads I see during Jeopardy!.
One I remember from yesterday is a Pizza Hut ad that ends with "Pizza Hut pizza tastes better when it costs less!"
That statement rang very true for me, so true that it almost called into question whether it is even something a pizza chain should brag about. |

Pretty much!
Subway isn't very high-end, but their prices are! 45元 for a Meatball Marinara footlong! It's cheaper in the states! |

I just got through the first one, and am about halfway through the second.
I like Jay, certainly as far as Jeopardy! champion-monsters go. |

Wow, so Jay!
He made it through the whole week!
The funny thing is, I really don't feel like he's that strong. Even medium-level Jeopardy! warriors like Larissa could defeat him, and at the Ken level he would be crushed to dust.
I feel that he's simply benefited from weak competition this week. There have been plenty of triple-stumpers during his run.
I mean, "which Shapespeare character's last words are 'the rest is silence'"? Nobody?? Come on!
An 1871 literary sequel featuring twins, and not one of them got Through The Looking Glass? All I had to hear was "sequel 1871" and I was already guessing that.
I feel like he's going to get his comeuppance on Monday.
Having said all this, two runaways in a row is not to be sneezed at. Perhaps we haven't seen his full power. |
