I thought of McKinley as someone who didn't complete a term because he died in office (like every president elected on a 0 year until Reagan, curse of Tippecanoe, don't ask), but I didn't know it was a second term!

It's really satisfying that the timing of the Curse of Tippecanoe worked out perfectly as something that wasn't widely part of the public consciousness until after it had happened several times, but then *continued to happen at least two more times AFTER it HAD entered public consciousness*.

So fuckhead skeptics can't just say that it's urban legendists engaging in masturbatory historical retcon, nor can they say that the deaths that occurred after it entered public consciousness could be attributed to self-fulfilling prophecy, because that's obviously not the case given the circumstances of Roosevelt and Kennedy's deaths.

It absolutely works for Kennedy's. The Wikipedia page even addresses that.

Anyway, the curse is so arbitrary that clearly trashy ol' Ripley just noticed a coincidence and invented a ghost story to explain it.
