I doubt there's even going to be another season. They just knew everybody was expecting some ridiculous last second mindfuck and that's exactly what they gave them. Out of left field shenanigans. And if you despise Panty it was an immensely satisfying conclusion.

They're supposed to be releasing an OVA when the first volume is released which might tie up loose ends. Still, I will bet you FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS that the next season is a hoax and that entire ending was just a parody of Gainax's usual ridiculous endings. Also, that China and Iraq will start World War III before Obama leaves office and we'll be living in a Waterworld-like dystopian future before the end of the century. PAY SERU.
