Harney and Sons loose leaf black tea has spoiled me. I feel like I'm turning into a tea snob because I don't like bag teas as much anymore. _________________ @}-,-'- *~*~* Member of the FTU Elegant Tea Party Society *~*~* -'-,-{@ |

I drink bagged tea because of laziness.
Actually, I do a ton of things that would probably give a tea snob a heart attack.
Although I suppose if I had a nice tea set I'd just make a pot all the time. _________________ @}-,-'- *~*~* Member of the FTU Elegant Tea Party Society *~*~* -'-,-{@ |

David's Tea in Montreal was a really good place to get cool tea, and scooping tea out and putting it into a tea ball, as a RITUAL, was an important part of my day.
I think I boiled it too hot though, because it never got to the same potency as bagged tea. |

You think the water being too hot made the tea weaker? ?_? |

The David's Tea bags say that you shouldn't boil it past a certain point (whereas I've never seen a warning like that on bagged tea) and I guess I did just crank the tea a lot, and I'm wondering if it scorched the tea in the tea ball or something, and fucked the taste up. |

The physical act of you actually teabagging me would be really gross and I think neither of us want that. |

Yeah, I think you aren't supposed to actually pour boiling water over tea leaves. You should pour the water, first, then add tea. This is at least true about green and white teas. |

I don't like drinking tea here because it's almost harder to find just no frills green tea than it is something with a orange ZEST or cinnamon or an assortment of ridiculous flavors. |

I use a bit of loose leaf black teas. The main problem I have with them is the brewing time. Improper brewing can result in the tea tasting bitter as earwax.
I also use a tea strainer, like this one.

I used to use a tea ball like Magic Juan, but the damn thing was such a pain to put the tea in and resulted in me losing a good portion. The strainer is more efficient and creates less of a mess.
I always use the timer on the stove or the microwave as a reminder when to take the tea out. My rule of thumb is brew black teas for about five minutes, it's also on the republic of tea page.

I would like to see Theldorrin and Clotho have a long discussion about tea. |

Theldorrin, I am having a tea party at the end of the month and I’m not sure what music I should play. I have at tea book that suggests some classical pieces, but I was also thinking of playing some musical scores as well. Do you have any suggestions? _________________ @}-,-'- *~*~* Member of the FTU Elegant Tea Party Society *~*~* -'-,-{@ |

Musical scores from what? Movies?
I think my music choice would depend on the time of the tea party. If it was an afternoon sort of thing, then I'd go with upbeat, lighter works dominated by the piano and woodwinds. _________________ @}-,-'- *~*~* Member of the FTU Elegant Tea Party Society *~*~* -'-,-{@ |

It would be an afternoon tea party.
I meant scores from musicals. One of the tea houses I go to plays an instrumental Broadway musical compilation which is quite nice. _________________ @}-,-'- *~*~* Member of the FTU Elegant Tea Party Society *~*~* -'-,-{@ |

I think this is really more of a question of what you can get. Most musicals have very few instrumental pieces. Generally just the overture (and often not even that), maybe a dance number and in some cases music that plays when they do their bows.
Most of the stuff I've got is big brass.
The Light in the Piazza has some very stunning orchestrations. I dunno if you can get that without the singing. _________________ @}-,-'- *~*~* Member of the FTU Elegant Tea Party Society *~*~* -'-,-{@ |
