There should be a story about this badass monk who gets kidnapped by some evil monks (really just goons who somehow got accepted as monks somewhere), and they try to mummify him via Sokushinbutsu, but he only PRETENDS to die, so when they open it up, he takes care of fuckin business!!!!

There would need to be some involuntary way for him to let the people know he's still alive, which he manages to voluntarily suppress. OR he could just keep ringing the bell, and the head goon is getting freaked out because NOBODY COULD STILL BE ALIVE AFTER 2000 DAYS!! I'm not sure how or why the good guy gets out in that case, though.
