Those are the meaningless ones. The meaningful ones are the ones where it's very clearly confounded or something of that sort. _________________ @}-,-'- *~*~* Member of the FTU Elegant Tea Party Society *~*~* -'-,-{@ |

A few months ago I only tipped 5% because I was already paying $400 and I wasn't sure of the etiquette for tipping tattoo artists AND the power of the number 420 was so strong. I feel pretty guilty about it! |

You don't tip people who are keeping all the money for the service they provide. |

Tipping ruins the market system. The customer's wants a product or a service, is quoted a price, and decides if the benefit derived from the product/service is higher than the cost. If so, they will then engage in a business transaction.
By tipping, not only is the system being damaged, but also we are not holding companies accountable for their staff, and therefore not being responsible and realistic for the costs involved. |

I remember there was this restaurant that didn't accept tips. They just paid everyone minimum wage, the service was awful, and the place was mysteriously burned to the ground.
There's a million economic theories, all designed to fill an agenda. The basic fact is that a laissez-faire economy cannot be sustained in a market in which the currency value has been frankensteined beyond recognition.
The U.S. is just going to be another slum with skyscrapers in in the background reminding everyone a world that you won't have to deal drugs or your body to survive in.
The problem is exasperated by the fact that most people can't quite separate economic issues from political ones.
The slight increase in taxes for the rich is much too little and too late to somehow "rain down" over 95% of the country's money from the top percentile of the rich folks.
Communism is much worse with money, actually. Communist countries either swiftly fall into financial ruin, or simply ignore communist ideals to keep the economy appearing successful.
Even the Scandinavian theory on money is unraveling as it requires the middle class to always have enough money to invest in future capital. The same thing is happening in the US: Other than the richest people, everyone else simply doesn't have the money to create the goods and services that we need as a nation.
Americans don't like to admit that our economy grew off the tobacco-addicted backbones of wealthy Englishmen, and that the country went through some horrific depressions. |

Wow, Frank, it's like the restaurant that got burned down for not allowing tipping was, like, a metaphor?? |

Consumers really don't think about consumer surplus in almost any situation, outside of conspicuous consumption! |

I hate that tax and tip are added afterwards. After living in a foreign country for the last year or so I've come to enjoy the "what you see is what you get" pricing. I'm going to be pissed when I come back and buy something for x.99 and it ends up costing more than x+1. I hate there to be a difference between my perceived expenditure and my actual expenditure.
Also, in Africa almost all learning is negative rote learning. If students are given very clear logical associations they fall apart and scratch their heads, but if given an extremely complicated equation they can calculate the answer easily. |
