It's the old DOS shortcut that has been retained for legacy purposes.

Shift+Ins is paste.

I don't know what copy is, since with text I just cut and paste it.

It really varies. I usually use control commands, but I copy more often than I cut, so ctrl+x is not as instinctive as ctrl+c. Thus, I'll occasionally right click for the menu to cut. I can't use ctrl commands at work for some gay reason, and this is furthering my bad habits.

Also, when I'm on my laptop, I'll find myself using my touchpad with my right hand, and won't bother moving my left hand to ctrl+anything.

If you copy instead of cut, then replace all of the commands with their equivalents.

Also of interest, do people refresh with the context menu, F5, or their brower's toolbar?

Post     Re: Shortcuts

For cutting I actually do all of them, but normally it's the DOS shortcut (Ie. when I'm typing something, and not using the mouse).

For refresh, it's normally F5. I'd only use the others when I'm not using the keyboard at all.

My keyboard is on one of those sliding things and I usually have it in unless I'm typing, so I use the refresh button in the browser.

Refreshing using F5 as opposed to your browser's button is among the most fundamental of Gang-Wars skills.

I think Ctrl-X is easier than Shift-Delete just because it can be done with my non-mouse hand, which is just sitting over on the left side of the keyboard anyway.

When fully typing, though, it's easier to use shift+ins, because it's one key with each hand.

I work at a furniture store, in customer service, and the system is complete ass backwards and decrepit. Presumably, the programmers specifically programmed the normal ctrl commands to be useless, because they bring up a "command not found" message or something whenever I try to use them, and all the function keys are programmed to do something..

Do you use specialized terminals, or is it just custom software running on Windows, DOS or OS/2?
