I'm in my 3rd year studying Italian and I guess my biggest problem is having no particular goals with it. I might study a year in Italy, that would be cool. If I don't do that, the only other thing I came up with is reading the Italian translations of non-English books instead of the English translations. This seems like a terrible goal to me, as far as believing I'll follow it through.

I got a book called "The Paradox of Choice" and a book called "Stumbling on Happiness." I'm not really moving away from self-help books so much as I'm moving onto simplistic "psychology" and "philosophy" books that are basically self-help without as much direct advice. Did you know having a lot of choices is bad because just knowing there's a hundred other choices will diminish your satisfaction with whatever you end up choosing? (Well, yeah, of course!) This is why computers and the internet make it impossible for me to have hobbies. How can reading a book or learning a musical instrument be fulfilling when I could theoretically be standardizing the tag and filename conventions of my music collection or seeing if Prussian Blue have titties yet? Even if I'm not doing things like that, knowing I could makes it impossible to fully get into legitimate modes of entertainment.

You could translate the books instead, if you don't have any specific life goal in mind.

Why did you pick Italian?

I was going to translate Dante's Inferno at some point, but, I didn't do very well in Italian.

Oh, I forgot that it's impossible that ALDP would be saying he's studied Italian for 3 years in college.

High School language programs are so ridiculous.

I actually planned on doing Italy after Japan. It seems like one of the least offensive 1st world countries available, when taking weather into account.

How new are those pix? I've seen those, I was hoping they were old. I guess in all likelihood I only heard about Prussian Blue within the last 2-3 years, but it feels like a lifetime!
