No, but they can go through the windows in your doors.

It is boring waiting ten minutes for night to go back to day. Better to build a shelter and hope no creepers are around when you go out in the day.

The best is digging down and discovering a cave/tunnel system, and you can hear zombies in the distance but don't know where they are. And as you're chipping away at some iron ore, they attack.

Civ 5 seems really easy. I just played a game on Prince and it felt like something in between Chieftain and Warlord (at least in terms of the threat the AI was to me, anyway).

I just hope there'll be more interesting boss battle strategies than "run circles around it and shoot" this time.

And that there'll be some sub-weapons actually worth using besides the vacuum arm and the overkill laser you get at the end of the game.

The AI isn't very good with non-stacked warfare. They easily fall for feints.
