Good. They should have let the dude make the movie he wanted. Spider-Man 3 was Raimi giving the finger to the studio. |

If they have to scrap the whole existing cast and storyline and everything they might as well just move on and do some other superhero.
There is no possible way that this will make MORE money than the previous incarnation. If you pull the plug then it's pretty much finished, idiots. Half of the money came from people happening to like the particulars of THAT incarnation. Lightning doesn't strike the same place twice. |

I'm surprised the most current PC game Bobcat Goldthwait could think of was Doom. What's the deal with that guy? |

I thought it was really good!
Robin Williams is so much better in understated roles. |

Spiderman needs a reboot. There must always be multiple parallel sequel chains in production for every superhero. Nothing should come out of Hollywood except Ant King VII and musicals starring Meryl Streep. |

I'd like to see another season, but it'd make a shitty movie. |

Why are so many folks making such a big deal of the Spiderman reboot? |

This century has really brought about a lot of reboots that have universally sucked. _________________ @}-,-'- *~*~* Member of the FTU Elegant Tea Party Society *~*~* -'-,-{@ |

This isn't technically a movie thread, it's a "... is dead" thread.
Actually I guess it's a hybrid, but you can see the trickiness of the situation. |

And, BIGJOEMEX, this is kind of big news for several reasons, one of them being that this is one of the top 3 most successful movie series of the last decade and all of a sudden they're just like *drop*, another being that the 4th movie was so close to actually happening that John Malkovich was talking EARLIER THE SAME DAY about having a part in it, another being that it fell apart, and quickly as fuck, as a result of a CREATIVE DIFFERENCES dispute (lol drama), and finally that its kind of bizarre and unprecedented for a total reboot/remake to be on the screen within 5 years of the last sequel of the previous incarnation, and it being aggressively drill-fucked into production.
Movie studios just don't usually ACT OUT in such bizarrely transparent gestures of desperation and frustration! |

In all honesty, I treated all news about Spiderman 4 as a joke. You could easily tell Sam Raimi really didn't want to do his job. Wasn't he lured back into doing Spiderrman 4 with a big check or something like that?
I guess I can understand how apparently important this is since it's a big movie franchise, but rebooting within the space of a couple years isn't really that strange. Look at The Punisher (2004)/Punisher: War Zone (2008). |
