Post     People responding with "True" when it doesn't make

This is mainly directed at the three or four other posters my age since I don't expect any of the rest of you dinosaurs to know anything or have friends

I'm not sure if this is a Canadian thing, or a Toronto thing, or what, but I keep hearing people say "True" as a placeholder response the way you might say "Ah" or "OK" or "Yeah" or something to indicate you heard what the other person was saying but have nothing in particular to say back. I can't think of any real-life examples right now but say me and some friends were ordering a pizza and I was like "I'm not sure if I want thin crust or regular crust" the other person would say "True" even if they weren't wrestling with that dilemma, even if THEY were gonna order wings. Or I could be like "Both of my parents have a lot of brothers and sisters" and they would be like "True." Now that I've made this thread hopefully I'll remember the next time it happens, but what I'm trying to say is... what is... the deal?
YES

I guess you misread the title of this thread as "Describe yourself in two words"

I say "Truth," or "Fact," after some sort of either incredibly dubious or incredibly objectively correct statement or whatever as a way to be hyperbolic in my day to day interactions with plebian intellects.

It's probably a Toronto thing.

I don't do that shit, though.

I get the impression that a lot of people from this part of Ontario make an exhausting effort to overuse Toronto slang

Most people in Ontario are from the GTA, so it's probably no effort at all.

I don't know, sometimes I get the impression somebody is making a conscious effort to use stupid slang just because they know it is theirs, like when somebody starts saying "Eh?" more often after they find out I'm American.

I don't mean that "Eh?" is stupid slang, just that it's something Canadians know is Canadian

People say eh a lot.

I think the only verbal adjustment I would make when dealing with an American is not correcting them when they say zee instead of zed.

Saying true in place of "Yeah man, I completely agree" was a big thing in these parts a few years back. Sometimes it'll slip from someone's mouth.

That's hardly the situation I describe in my first post, TARDBOT.

The subject is supposed to say "when it doesn't make sense" in case any of you didn't get that

I'm sorry, Matt. I was describing how it is primarily used in Florida, not Canadia.
