Hey Theldorrin, if you're saying Glee isn't that bad maybe just say that instead of being a bitch. I liked the music sequences in the first episode and imagine they'd be good in every episode but jesus christ, "Each episode costs at least $3 million to produce,[6] and can take up to 10 days to film as a result of the elaborate choreography.[9]" That's wonderful and all but I'd just as soon watch the musical numbers on Youtube than try to convince myself they can buoy the awful writing/premise/everything else.

You're perfectly entitled to not like things, but when people make up obviously retarded criticisms of those things, then it's just absurd.

The show is not really by-the-book when it comes to television comedy, since it's too long and completely lacks canned laughter. It certainly borrows a lot from movies, but that's different entirely.

Complaining about the music is just an easy, baseless attack. It's unlikely that someone on FTU would flat out say that Queen or any of the other people covered sucks, because they'd be called on their retardation.

And aside from it taking place in a school and having music, it's not at all similar to High School Musical. You may as well compare it to Six Feet Under because it stars humans and is a television show.

6 Feet Under, and a lot of television I've missed over the past 8 years, is really good.

All I remember from the first episode was that every character was mentally ill in some way and dozens of jokes were constituted entirely of that fact (On an individual basis, to my knowledge there were no jokes about every character having mental illness). Oh, except the handsome bland teacher and the handsome bland football star who isn't a bully like the rest of the team. You may be right that it's not a sit-com but the fact that its repugnant sense of humor is more like a movie than a TV comedy does not recommend it to me.

I mean, do you remember what you thought of the pilot when you saw it? I can't remember finding any of it funny and it made me uncomfortable how all of the characters except those two were just quirky props with dialogue. That's why I was so pissed off when that episode got great reviews for having a lot of heart and so on. Looking at the wikipedia for it I see that most of the respectable reviews acknowledged problems with tone and stuff, so it looks like I was mad about nothin.... again!

I still think my comparison to HSM was justified. It has the exact same cheesy feel to me. One of the only differences is that Glee has adult characters involved that contribute to the story, whereas any adults in HSM are only ridiculous caricatures.

I'd also prefer it if the show featured original music instead of remakes.

Maybe Glee would make a really awesome Nickelodeon show, but it's a pretty mediocre show by any other standards.
