I have only drank alcohol and smoked cigarettes but I quit cold turkey about 2 years ago. I have never used any illegal substances at most I took vicodin when I got my teeth pulled but they were prescribed.

In a person's life there will be times to party and times to take it easy on partying. This is a truth universally reflected in all world faiths and philosophical doctrines. An FTU poster who will remain unnamed confided in me last night (I can only assume tearfully) that he had never gotten high or even really gotten drunk despite being old enough to have done both of those things at least a couple of times. I can understand never getting high (Even though that's a tragic and avoidable truncation of one's life experience) but geez, you can go to a liquor store and buy stuff and drink it at home and it's easy and you don't give a fuck. If you have alcoholism in your family that's a great reason to never try drinking, or if you had some kind of surgery that makes it dangerous for you to drink. Otherwise I can't see any sense at all in never even trying it.

Maybe some of you think your time to party has passed, or that drinking is something only fun people or sad people do. Don't get stuck in that kind of thinking. Walt Whitman, for example, started partying late in life.

Are you worried about yourself or about accurately categorizing FTU virgin non-partiers, Matt? You have led a very exciting and adventurous life. You got drunk in Mongolia. That time you yelled in your hostel and bothered the other guests, that was a wild party.

It's very impressive if someone has never gotten drunk before, but only if that's not due to some sort of special upbringing (religious, formerly alcoholic parents, etc), because it means a rejection of peer pressure.

Anyway, I'd be surprised if there was anyone here that hasn't been drunk before. I think I'm the only teetotaler here, and I can't really see someone drinking regularly and always avoiding getting drunk.
