A cop from the big city is exiled to work as the marshal in a small town. Here he must learn the way things work in this eerie place and is immediately forced into action as a woman accuses her husband of beating her while the husband claims she's insane and hurts herself. Settling this domestic dispute is hindered by the strange customs and secrets of this town.

Rather low key for most part, but it was very enjoyable. There are a few twists that are rather unexpected and keep the movie from growing too depressing and tedious. I've read reviews comparing this movie to a Coen Brothers film, but it lacks the surrealism of their films. In terms of mood and characters, I can see the parallel though and it is fairly original too which gives it bonus points in my book.

A can see this not appealing to everyone because it can be quite slow at times, but I think it's worth a watch. Good opener and helps prove my theory that Asia's ship may have sailed when it comes to the best international cinema these days.

Big bugs have wrapped up all the citizens of a city into cocoons and are feeding on their sweet sweet juices. A loser just fired from his office job somehow manages to wake up and escapes his cocoon. He begins freeing others as well and they form a little troupe trying to find their way to safety while this all blows over. The bugs are blind which makes evading them fairly easy, but they react to noises, making driving impossible. Thus they trek by foot towards a bomb shelter while avoiding dangerous beetles and hornets buzzing about. Buuuut they have to be careful because if a bug stings you, you become one of them! (Ughhungjhkl)

Nothing to really complain about here except that they reuse the same old stupid zombie cliche, but with bugs. They couldn't very let be with just having big nasty bugs that attack in swarms but can be overpowered if fought one-on-one. Bah! It was also a tad lacking in the suspense department, but Infestation is a fairly lighthearted horror and they're probably relying on the creepiness of the giant bugs (which look pretty cartoony to me). The main character's father, a retired general played by Ray Wise, helped save the film from being totally mediocre. Actually, the characters are fairly decent as a whole and worked well without any of them being particularly boring or irritating for too long.

This may end up in a theater near YOU. I'd wait for video. Also, the very final scene is terrible.

A 4 hour (!!) tale about a high schooler who, in order to appease his priest father who demands that his son have real sins to confess, becomes a master kung-fu pervert who snaps pictures of girls' panties with blinding speed and stealth. Alas, he doesn't actually find looking at random girls' panties to be sexually stimulating and longs for the love of his life, or Virgin Mary as he puts it. One day he finally finds the girl of his dreams, but at the same time in drawn into a master plot by a radical cult church and their twisted psychopath recruiter.

This was a test of endurance if nothing else. The first two hours flew by as it was monstrously entertaining and promised to redeem Japanese movies in my eyes. It all fell apart in the second half as gloomy characters and nonsensical plot turned Love Exposure into...well...a Japanese movie. As a result, sitting through the last two hours felt like pulling teeth and completely ruined the experience.

The crowd ate it up so maybe I'm in the minority, but the people who go Fantasia are generally monsters with no sense of taste. For example, sitting beside my friend was King Faggot who couldn't stop laughing at shit that wasn't funny, making stupid remarks even though he was all alone ("Oh no, he didn't just do that!") and acting all grossed out when chicks would feel each other up and masturbate and stuff. He was asking for his own personal holocaust which I would be more than happy to unleash upon him and his kind!

If they somehow re-edit the movie to contain just the first half with a quick ending that isn't totally retarded, then I'd be game. But we all know that the concept of a quality ending completely escapes the Japanese. Save four hours of your life and avoid Love Exposure.

An adorable 5 year old child needs a new heart. Problem is terrorists have taken over the hospital in which the doner heart is located. Solution: Four kids punch and kick their way through the terrorists in order to get their friend's heart to him safe and sound.

Good fun with the kids pulling off some pretty neat moves for their age. One scene in particular which had them fighting in a tiny corridor and leaping from wall to wall was particularly cool. Lower expectations compared to the ridiculous stunts of Ong Bak and it's a very enjoyable film.
