I was pretty happy with the film until the brutal massacre of the story at the end. The way they decided to go makes positively no sense and is simply infuriating.T he whole thing wasn't bad, but it sure ended on a terrible note. That being said, I'm taking my girlfriend to see it sometime this week cause she's never read it.

I never really read the comic, by the way.

I knew the basic idea and the characters, but I never actually read it. I MEANT TO, but never got around to it.

I wasn't all that excited about this movie either and wasn't expecting anything in particular.

So yeah!

Ebert 4-starred it and mostly liked it for the same reason I did: Dr. Manhattan is the best character in a movie in years, and Rorschach is second best, so when you have all that in one movie, awesome.

I guess I can understand why some critics and stuff aren't liking this, but seriously fuck them.

Also fuck Magic Juan (if he isn't kidding) and fuck Jason especially of course (but fuck him all the time anyway!) There is nothing wrong with this movie.

I liked the movie but while I thought the comicbook was good I didn't shit my dick to death after reading it and decide it was the greatest thing ever so maybe my view is tainted.

I read two chapters of the book last night, and so far the movie is better.

Dialogue is a big part of that. Both of them have pretty bad dialogue (so much of it is word-for-word the same), but nothing can ever top a comic book in terms of shitty unrealisticness that doesn't bear any resemblance to the way people actually talk.

The way every other word is italicized and bolded in fucking American comics makes the tin-ear dialogue even worse.

At least an actor can make it SOUND good.

I'm very picky about dialogue.

The craft of dialogue writing is still about where surgery was in the 1700's. Everyone sucks at it except like 3 people.
