Yeah, THE FIRST APPEARANCE OF. If it were a movie, they certainly wouldn't be the first appearance of those things, so other, more fitting scene would be.

The Count Arc only stands out BECAUSE it was the first appearance of a bunch of important shit.

Personally I think Miura should just redo the first couple volumes.

He kind of undid weepy Guts (After Theresa promised to kill him.) with the whole spurning Jill thing, but still.

That stuff just doesn't fit.

The point of THE COUNT ARC was to show Guts being an inhuman, demented asshole.

Finding out why he is that way is half the fun!

20th Century Boys is really 1b but w/e. Gantz, Monster, Hellsing and JoJo are pretty equal in terms of how much I enjoy them but I just chose two since I didn't want to make a 4 way tie.

Yeah, it did sort of decline towards the end, but I can't ignore how good the writing (especially the dialogue) was for 90% of the series.

Basically, Friend dies but Kenji doesn't know who he is so he goes into the virtual attraction to try and find out.

My guess is that they're building up Friend to be someone completely new.

There are a lot of reasons that Gantz is terrible and the only reason I put up with it is because Kaze is fucking awesome.

I mean, talk about a manga with pacing issues!

Fucking GANTZ!

In other news, this is timely because I've been watching the DRAGON BALL Z subs and after watching genuinely good anime for a while I realized that DBZ is almost a suffocating ordeal. I mean, it's still my favorite thing ever but ughghrnghghg. The Ocean dubs were seriously the best incarnation of the series and it's really fucking sad that they may be lost forever with the re-dubs, especially after the release on DVD.

Uh, uhm, boohoo, they cut out Gohan making friends with a robot! Jesus.

Anyways, top fives:

1. Dragonball Z- Probably 75% of my being is at least somewhat of a result of this. Untouchable.

2. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure- No other series makes the conclusion to a fight quite as ass blastingly satisfying. In other continuities the villain may get away and flick their hair, but in JoJo they get destroyed, and get destroyed hard. Not only that, they will become a despicable piece of shit at the end that the main character will describe as "not even worth two rat's assholes" or similar.

3. Hajime no Ippo- This show is so ridiculously inspiring that it should be included in fitness programs. In fact, it's a big part of the reason I started running and working out! I could easily say I've improved myself because of this show and every time I WANT TO STOP RUNNING OR SOMETHING, I think about IPPO and go "It doesn't hurt, it doesn't hurt!!!" Plus, it's very ;_______;

4. Fist of the North Star- A guy punches people and they explode, and probably defined the notion of manly love better than anyone before it.

5. Berserk- Aside from the obvious reasons why it's good, I really fucking love the idea of struggling against fate and causality and shit. And being pissed, almost ecstatic about things that you should rightly fear is the pinnacle of everything.
