I'll probably build a new PC sometime next year. Not being able to play games that came out three years ago is beginning to bug me.

I prefer the Line Cutter. Makes cutting limbs off super easy and it doesn't take much ammo to kill necromorphs.

I've been going for the trophy for using only the Plasma Cutter, but I'm worried I'll eventually hit a boss that I won't be able to overcome.

I had a superb omni-card just given to me by a friend, but I barely if ever play games on it, because 90% of what I use my computer for is to obsessively write to myself (and Fagtown) about myself, because I'm far more fascinating than video games.

So the card is going to waste.

The default gun is the best, trust me. Upgrade it all the way whenever you get the chance. Upgraded, it's 20 shots at semi-automatic speed. It's tremendously overpowered as a starter gun.

The line cutter sends a traveling shockwave... it's not instant. Later on, mobs will actually dodge that shit. Contact beam is real good too, but the charge time and lack of a cutting line makes it shitty for mobs; however, it's the ultimate boss kill.

I used to think the ripper was good but it's really too weak. Force beam is shit, and plasma rifle I never used because it's also too weak and doesn't cut.

I like the force gun. I had a shit load of ammo for it so I started using it. You just need to be up close. It is great for the little mobs even better than the flamethrower you just need to let them get close to you so you can take them all out in 1 shot. Also against normal mobs it is a 1 shot gun

The ripper is good if you upgrade it because it has a high chance of removing limbs in a single shot with its secondary fire. It's useless against bosses though.

You get the ammo based on the weapons you have in your inventory.

Some mobs will spew out tiny spiders and shit if you hit them where you're not supposed to (like the fat guys and the things on the wall). So pretty much anything but the default gun will get you into more trouble than it is worth.

Also, the default gun kills the giant tentacles will kill them in 3 shots if it is upgraded all the way. And when upgraded, it shoots much faster too.

Trust me, it's really the best weapon in the game, and worth the power nodes to max out.

I really wanted this game to be Resident Evil 4 in Space, but unfortunately it's done a great job of articulating RE4's campy charm by virtue of not having any charm whatsoever.

I started playing this last night. While I appreciate the immersion effect the holograms that appear in front of your character create it leaves them really hard to read or distinguish. Also I spent like 10 minutes trying to figure out what I was supposed to do to get through that rapidly opening/closing door until I died trying to rush through it in frustration and reheard the thing about how I could slow down time or whatever.
