Real radiation is pretty gay. It doesn't glow, it just kills you. |

What IS nuclear waste? Uranium, obviously, but is there radiated water to be disposed of? |

He could stand to go a little faster because so far everything he's said is true.
As a bonus, uranium sinks in almost anything, so it wouldn't rise in wet or shifting soil, like buried oil drums can. |

It's only spent fuel, I believe, Peter.
Water is only used as a coolant. |

It's used as shielding as well. I remember reading about a worker who made a glass capped tube to peer at something below the water, which would be the same thing as drilling a hole most of the way through a shielding wall and putting your eye up to it. I think he died. |

I'm sure heavy water is very useful at shielding radiation, since it can actually trap neutrinos. |

Oh right, nuclear waste is no threat at all, regardless of a half century of STUFF and common sense saying otherwise.
All I know is that if the terrorists had slammed those planes into Indian Point, Big Fagot would be dead now and the U.S. would be in shambles. But how logical a target would THAT have been!
It's a good thing they instead went for three strategically meaningless, asbestos-filled, financially disastrous buildings overflowing with incriminating evidence against various financial and governmental bodies, that had been heavily and specifically insured against terrorist attacks just a few months before!
NOW THAT WAS THE TARGET TO PICK. |

Well gee, an already cost inneficient fuel source is made even more cost inefficient by launching it in to space! Either the company can build it itself (it wont), or we can use tax payer dollars for someone elses ship!
Or we can just use natural gas, windmill, hydroelectiric, etc. |

Chris, your argument makes no sense. You asserted that nuclear waste is much worse than everyone else is making it out to be, then instead of supporting that, you pretended you had already proved it and went on to use it to argue some other rambling thing that no one was talking about. |

According to Metal Gear Solid there's enough nuclear waste produced every day to destroy the world 100 times over. |

What evidence that it's harmful?
It's only harmful if it's not treated with the respect that it deserves. CANDU reactors, for example, are inherently safe, so a meltdown is basically impossible.
It's not like anyone even died from Three Mile Island. |

I was just thinking about dying and cosmic oblivion and it got me seriously depressed, even though once I die I won't even be conscious to understand what is going on forever and ever and ever and ever. |

It's the most cost efficient fuel based energy source. And it's much more efficient than solar and wind. |
