Dpayne: You both arrive back at the city park gate.  You see the bum sleeping in front of the gate, but Aden and Barrett are nowhere in sight.
Devereaux: "Well, shit."
Devereaux: I walk over to the bum and wake him up.
*** Barrett has left #ftuvampire.
Dpayne: He snorts.
Dpayne: "Huh, what, shi-it, fuck, huh what?"
Dpayne: He seems a bit dazed.
Dpayne: Over.
Devereaux: "Where did the kid and the cripple go?"
Devereaux: Over.
Dpayne: "I don't know, and I don't car, blah!"
Dpayne: He suddenly vomits on you shoe and laughs.
Dpayne: Over.

PingYu: I laugh.
PingYu: "We have your wine."
PingYu: Over.
Devereaux: I grab him by his collar and lift him up.
Dpayne: "Wine, did someone say wine..."
Devereaux: "Open the door."
Dpayne: He stats mumbling as you lift him by his tattered rags.
Dpayne: He suddenly grins.
Dpayne: "If ya kill me, ya never get in punk."
Devereaux: I smile, then let go of his dirty collar.
Dpayne: He starts cackling and urinating and shitting all over himself.
Devereaux: fuuuuk
Devereaux: "We have your wine. Now hold up your end of the bargain and open the door."
Dpayne: He suddenly stands up and dusts himself off.
Dpayne: "Give it to me!"
Dpayne: over.
Devereaux: "Door first."
Devereaux: I use Presence to perhaps help convince him.
Dpayne: "Fine, fine, but not like that'll do you any good.  Have to teach you how to travel through the park I do."
Dpayne: Over.
Devereaux: I sigh and hand him the bottle of wine.
Devereaux: "Let's get going then."
Devereaux: Over.
Dpayne: He snatches the bottle out of your hands and tears the top of with inhuman strength and then begins guzzling the bottole.

Dpayne: He finishes of the whole thing and then tosses it to the side.
Dpayne: "Delicious, sir."
Dpayne: "Now I can help you."
Dpayne: He begins fumbling with the gate and unlocks it.
Dpayne: He then digs through his rags and pulls out a dead rat and hands it to you.
Dpayne: "This is special, it will get you to King, and the roses WHEEEEE!"
Devereaux: I pull my hand back. "What the fuck is this?"
Dpayne: As he finishes the statement he drops the fossilized dead rate and sprints off screaming.
Dpayne: Over.
PingYu: I'll pick up the dead rat.
Devereaux: "That was a waste of time."
PingYu: "Let's get this over with."
PingYu: Over.
Devereaux: I enter the park.
Dpayne: Pingyu roll perception + occult difficult 6.

Dpayne: You are both suddenly overwhelmed by darkness.
Dpayne: Neither of you can see more than 2 inches in front of you.
PingYu: I hesitate for a moment, and then reach out to grab hold of Devereaux with my other hand. So we stay together.
Devereaux: I pull out my cell phone and attempt to light the way with the screen.
Dpayne: The light from the cell phone does not work in the darkness.
Devereaux: I follow the directions I'm hearing.
Devereaux: Over.
Dpayne: Ping begins to push her way through the darkness holding onto you Devereaux.
Dpayne: You both follow the guidance of the mental directions through the thickening darkness.
Dpayne: You begin to hear shrieks and horrific noises, all manner of nightmares seem to be occurring in the darkness.
Dpayne: You pray that you never see them.
Dpayne: Somehow the rat seems to protect you both.
Dpayne: You push and push feeling the weight bearing down on you.
Dpayne: Both of you roll courage difficulty 5.

Dpayne: You both manage to maintain your composure and push through the darkness.
Dpayne: You finally see a clearing ahead.
Dpayne: You both push through and make your way to the lit area and thank whatever beings there might be that you are no longer in the darkness.
Dpayne: Ahead of you, you see a small shanty town, and about 20 or 30 feet away what appears to be a little girl tending to some rose bushes.
PingYu: I'll let go of Devereaux.
Dpayne: Over.
PingYu: "You figure out who this king is that the child is so interested in. I have some business to attend to."
Devereaux: "Whatever."
Devereaux: I move towards the child.
PingYu: I'll head over to the rose bushes.
PingYu: Over.
Devereaux: Over.
Dpayne: The child like thing sprints up and stands in front of you both.
Dpayne: You both get a true glimpse at that fresh horrow.
Dpayne: A skinless creature, covered in barb wire.
Dpayne: Monsrous and grotesque yet deceptive and disarming at a distance.
Dpayne: Whoever is reponsible for this being is truly no longer human.
Dpayne: over.
Devereaux: I recoil back in horror.
PingYu: I gag.
Devereaux: "Is this your business?"
Dpayne: It smiles at you and opens it's mouth.
Devereaux: I say to Ping.
PingYu: "No."
Dpayne: A cacophony of a thousand whispering voices rings out.
Dpayne: "Welcome."
PingYu: I nudge Devereaux forward and continue to the rose bushes.
PingYu: Over.
Devereaux: "H-hello ..."
Devereaux: Attempting to regain my composure, I ask the thing "Where's King?"
Devereaux: Over.
Dpayne: The creatue moves across the ground as if in stop motion, with a single muscle ever moving.  It blocks Ping from the roses it's mouth still open wide.
Dpayne: "Why do you seek the roses."
Dpayne: The whispers speak.
Dpayne: Over.
PingYu: "My little friend told me that I should spend some time to smell them."
PingYu: "I do not know his name..."
PingYu: Over
Dpayne: It's head twists 360 degrees mouth still open wide smiling.
Dpayne: "Do you seeeeeeeeeeeeeeek it..."
PingYu: "Seek what?"
PingYu: Over.
Devereaux: "The ... ring?"
Devereaux: Over.
PingYu: "Shhh..."
Dpayne: "The ring is the key, is the key, is the ring to the door to end of us all."
PingYu: "Can you show me the ring?"
PingYu: Over.
Dpayne: The creature swiftly pulls five identical roses out of te bushes as if my magic.
Dpayne: "Find the different one find the ring, find the key, find the end."
Dpayne: It then drops the roses on the ground in front of it and they line up next to each other seemingly identical.
Dpayne: Over.
PingYu: I'll look at them.
Dpayne: Roll perception + investigation difficulty 7.

Dpayne: However, you come upon one that smells like sulphur, and you recoil in disgust .
Dpayne: Over.
PingYu: Oh
PingYu: Well, that one is different then.
PingYu: I'll pick it.
PingYu: And make sure the smell is from the rose and not from something beside it.
PingYu: Over.
Dpayne: You see in the bud a small ring.
PingYu: I take the ring.
PingYu: And put it on, if it fits.
PingYu: Over.
Dpayne: You put on the ring, and expecting either the best or worst, get nothing.
Dpayne: The creature suddenly starts gyrating violently and you both hear cackling.
Dpayne: It melts into a puddle of gore, and the roses burst into flames.
Dpayne: Suddenly you see a path back out of the park.
Dpayne: Over.
PingYu: Do I see what's happened to Devereaux?
Devereaux: "Christ ..."
Dpayne: He's still standing close to you.
PingYu: Ok.
Devereaux: "I'm not sure what's happening, but we should get back to the other two."
PingYu: "Yes. We still have a mystery to solve."
Devereaux: I head on the path out of the park.
PingYu: And I do as well.
PingYu: Over.
Devereaux: Over.
Dpayne: You both follow the narrow yet seemingly safe path back to the gate.
Dpayne: It is still unlocked, and Barret and Aden are nowhere to be found.
PingYu: Is there any wildlife about?
Dpayne: No, there is the shanty town of people back in the clearing on the other end of the path.
Dpayne: But nothing else living seems to be nearby.
Devereaux: I head to the shanty town.
PingYu: I start swearing in Mandarin.
Devereaux: Over.
PingYu: And head to the shanty town.
PingYu: Over.

Dpayne: You notice a bunch of bums crowded around a small fire with lots of strange homeless person shacks.
Dpayne: In the center is a dirty old man in rags feeding a rat some cheese and cooing at it.
Dpayne: Over.
Devereaux: I approach the old man feeding the rat.
Devereaux: And use Presence.

Devereaux: Oh, I meant in general.
Devereaux: "We're looking for someone," I say to the man feeding the rat.
Barrett: I approach the gate looking around to see if the bum is still around.
Dpayne: "You've found someone.  Now get the fuck out."  He snaps back rather harshly without even looking up from the mouse.
