Devereaux: I sigh and brush back my hair.
PingYu: "I suppose I should begin from where you left."
*** Kostas has joined #bloodden.
PingYu: "In the bushes I found a ring, that acted as a key to Archbishop Vykos' chamber."
Devereaux: "The ring was a lure."
PingYu: "It was the possession of the horned man."
Devereaux: "They wanted you to bring the kid here if the limbless torso of Vasquez is to be trusted."
PingYu: "Aden lied to the boy, and told him that the horned man was his sire."
Devereaux: "Hmph."
Devereaux: "Well here's the situation as I understand it."
PingYu: "He seems to be trying to fulfill the words of that silly letter, against Carmella's wishes.
PingYu: "
Devereaux: "We're not supposed to be alive. Dolores Sinclair and Dominic want to bring the child to Archbishop Vykos. That means one or possibly all three of them are in this building."
Devereaux: "Aden can do what he wants for now."
PingYu: "If that's the case, then why don't we just set the whole building on fire and get out of here?"
Devereaux: I suddenly realize something.
Devereaux: "Actually, I don't know if Vykos is alive at all. Vasquez just mentioned his chamber ..."
Devereaux: "Nonetheless, whoever is in here waiting is expecting Barett and a werewolf."
PingYu: "So why did you think that Vykos wanted the boy?
PingYu: "
Devereaux: "I don't know any of their motives yet."
PingYu: "And you thought that Vykos wanted the boy because...?"
Devereaux: "I was confused by what Vasquez said when he was dying."
Devereaux: "I should've dragged his body here with me."
Devereaux: I start pacing in front of the town house entrance.
Devereaux: "Honestly, I don't give a shit about what happens to Aden or that kid, but we'll be killed if we don't figure this out fast."
Devereaux: "I'm going inside to meet whoever was waiting for the kid and his escort."
Devereaux: Over.
PingYu: "Now that we know that Dolores is responsible for much of this, we can re-examine the course of events."
PingYu: "Firstly, we know that Carmella suspected someone in the Camarilla, and that Dolores fits with that."
PingYu: "Secondly, we know that Carmella supposedly has psychic powers, and thinks that she'll die very soon even though she was supposed to be safely in custody until our time is up."
PingYu: "Thirdly, she was responsible for giving us the werewolf hair that sent us to the bar."
PingYu: "Which connects with a werewolf delivering the boy."
Devereaux: "We were supposed to die there, and a "wolf bitch" was going to escort the kid to Vykos' chamber."
Devereaux: "Which reminds me, did any of you ever meet Large Marge?"
PingYu: "Yes."
Devereaux: "What did she say?"
PingYu: "The werewolf hair was fake, but there was the smell of someone that frequently hung out with werewolves."
PingYu: I'm pretty sure that's what it was, anyway.
Devereaux: "So the 'wolf bitch' could've been anyone. Since she didn't take the kid, I'm guessing it wasn't her."
PingYu: "I only know of one wolf bitch, and it's that woman at the bar."
Devereaux: "Hmm."
PingYu: "Anyway, the chamber has a locked drawer that we didn't manage to open."
Devereaux: "I just remembered something odd Vasquez said."
Devereaux: "He was promised this city to rule over when Dominic and Sinclair were in power, but he learned of their plan and that he was going to be betrayed."
PingYu: "Vasquez was not in on the scheme? It seems odd, because he was the one that selected the boy for this mission."
PingYu: "I see.
PingYu: "
Devereaux: "He said something like 'I wouldn't let them destroy the world for my prize.'"
Devereaux: "And 'who wants to rule a kingdom of fire'."
PingYu: "A pyromaniac..."
Devereaux: "That's what I thought."
*** Kostas has signed off IRC (Ping timeout).
PingYu: "Perhaps you can make sense of these chapter titles."
PingYu: I show him the book of nod for dummies and the titles, which I'll paste in.
PingYu: Unless you've already seen them, Vinny.
Devereaux: Paste them in again but I don't think they mean anything.
PingYu:  Tech support in the modern world.
PingYu: Freight Trains and their significance.

PingYu: And finally Father and Son relationships.
Devereaux: I look at The World's Best Lockpickers.
PingYu: "A battle of wits..."
Devereaux: Or rather, read a little bit of the chapter.
Devereaux: Over.
PingYu: Over.
PingYu: I think Derek is doing something in the other room, so we may as well brainstorm.
Dpayne: As you open up to the chapter "Worl's best lock pickers, you notice a thin piece of metal almost key shaped taped to the first page.
Dpayne: Over.
PingYu: Oh.
PingYu: Haha
Devereaux: I pull the key shaped thing off the page.
PingYu: HAHAHAHA
PingYu: I thought it was a word problem!
Devereaux: Hehehe
Devereaux: "This may open that drawer."
PingYu: I hang my head in shame.
Devereaux: "I have some ideas what our next plan of action should be, but we might as well open that drawer first."
Devereaux: "Let's go."
PingYu: "Yes."
PingYu: Over.
Devereaux: I head back into the Vykos' chambers, heading towards where I saw them trying to open that drawer.
Devereaux: Over.
PingYu: I do the same.
PingYu: Over.
Dpayne: As you open the drawers you both find an old dust covered journal.
Devereaux: I open the journal and begin reading it.
Devereaux: Over.
PingYu: I look over his shoulder.
PingYu: Over.
Dpayne: You find that the journal is a chronicle of the several hundred years of unlife Vykos lived with entries ranging from once a year to once a decade.
PingYu: "Maybe we should start from the end and work backwards."
PingYu: Over.
Devereaux: I agree.
Devereaux: Over.
Dpayne: As the journal winds on you find frequent references to a Bali named Dominic who had befriended Vykos and was aiding him on his path to true monstrosity through metamorphosis.
PingYu: A kuei-jin?
Dpayne: Bali vampire.
Dpayne: It's a clan.
PingYu: Is that a clan?
PingYu: Oh
Dpayne: Or a bloodline.
Devereaux: I continue reading.
Devereaux: Over.
Dpayne: Anyway the final entries are from the 5 years ago.
Dpayne: The last entry reads.
Dpayne: "The boy is mine, I won't let Dominic have him.  I know that bitch Sinclair is working for him, she wants to meet tonight, but I'm ready for her.  I could never let them harm my precious precious Barrett."
Dpayne: Over.
PingYu: "Oh, so his name is Barrett."
Devereaux: "I wonder how ready he actually was for her ..."
PingYu: "Is she Ventrue?"
Devereaux: "I don't know."
Devereaux: "I never really concerned myself with her."
Devereaux: "But certainly not, I'm going to tear her throat out."
Devereaux: now*
Devereaux: I hand the book to Ping, telling her to keep it as she'll likely make more sense out of it than I would.
Devereaux: "So now, we have that problem solved."
Devereaux: "Where do we go now?"
Devereaux: Over.
PingYu: "Check the book of nod for dummies. The last chapter."
Devereaux: I look at the last chapter, Father and Son relationships.
Devereaux: Over.
PingYu: Over.
Dpayne: Roll perception + alertness difficulty 7.

Dpayne: You notice the chapter is just a large collection of racy jokes involving fathers and sons.
Dpayne: However one thing does seem out of place.
Dpayne: It reads "All sons should meet their fathers at the fountain of blood."
PingYu: "I suppose that answers that question."
Devereaux: I scan around for a way deeper into the townhouse, somewhere unexplored earlier.
PingYu: "Presumably that's where Aden is taking Barrett. He glanced at this book earlier."
Devereaux: "I wonder if Vykos is Barrett's father."
Devereaux: "Or maybe his sire, even."
PingYu: "I don't think Barrett is hundreds of years old."
Devereaux: Over.
PingYu: Over.
Dpayne: Perhaps the answers are in Vykos's journal.
PingYu: Can I skim through it?
Dpayne: Yes
PingYu: I'll do so.
PingYu: Over.
Dpayne: You make your way to the later years of Vykos's life.
Dpayne: "Dominic has a plan, and if he's right he and I shall both accomplish our goals, but we need a child."
Dpayne: 2 years later...
Dpayne: "The woman gave me the child quite willingly, Dominic says we must wait to embrace him, this is all so exciting first I can play father, then I can play sire and then I can rule this world.
Dpayne: Of course this child will be the ultimate in metamorphosis.
Dpayne: 5 years later.
Dpayne: "I embraced the child today and now I am his sire.  I have grown quite fond of him, so in order to sever the bond I've wiped his memory of his prior life so he will not show me the affection he did before.  Soon I will turn him into what we need while stringing him along with promises of revealing his sire as Dominic instructed.  Soon this world will be mine."
Dpayne: 2 years later.
Dpayne: "I cannot go through with it, my childe is too important to me.  I must stop Dominic, I will keep the boy here and protect him.  I know he's been talkign to Vasquez, and he introduced me to some new woman Sinclair, I must stop them all from hurting my darling boy."
Dpayne: 2 years later...
Dpayne: "The darkness is the park, I place my house here next to it because of Dominic but now I must stop it to protect my beautifual child.  Dominic you will not best a Sabbat archbishop."
Dpayne: These entries continue like that until you find one of note.
Dpayne: "I have time, apparently Dominic can't release the darkness himself, he needs a proxy, one whose dreams of death and destruction surpass his own.  I doubt he's likely to find that, he'd probably have to make it.  He keeps mentioning something about fire.  I don't think he knows I'm going trying to stop him yet, so this is good news."
Dpayne: Over.
Devereaux: "So, if I'm interpreting this correctly, the two people Dominic needs are together now."
PingYu: "Yes. And heading to the fountain of blood?"
Devereaux: "Assumedly."
Devereaux: Derek, has this place been explored fully, or at least most of it?
PingYu: I think this is where Barrett lives.
PingYu: Or lived.
Devereaux: I mean, I don't know if these guys just decided to leave when the final boss is patiently waiting behind a door somewhere.
Dpayne: Yes
Devereaux: OK.
Dpayne: But if you guys recall, which Ping would, there was a fountain of blood at the meeting place where you all met.
PingYu: Yes
Devereaux: "We should head to that fountain of blood."
PingYu: "Let's go!"
Devereaux: I head outside.
PingYu: I head out and get on my motorcycle.
PingYu: Over.
Devereaux: Oh, I ALSO get on my motorcycle.
Devereaux: Over.
Dpayne: I'm assuming you both speed to the meeting place?
Devereaux: Of course.
PingYu: yes.
Dpayne: Okay join #citystreets
Devereaux: Oh, I stop and get me and Ping's new motorcycle club decal stitched onto my leather jacket
Dpayne: You both make the winding drive, and arrive to see Barrett walking back on his own to the warehouse.
Dpayne: Over.
