A fantastic thought
I thought of this and creamed my fucking pants.
A flame war including Hubris and the Admins.

pimprock = Proximo, the slave master trying to manipulate his property to greatness (but ends up being chopped in half and burnt because of it).
You = Commodus, the fey/butch guy who gives up the thumbs up/down with little scope of what the fuck is going on.

I was thinking of this as more of a brawl, a street fight to be more precise. BUT SWORDS AND PENIS' ARE GOOD TOO.
Anyway, there was fault in your statement. Commudus as much as I hated the rat headed fuck was a bright man. He knew what Rome was, he also knew that no one respected him (THEY LIED TO HIM AND MADE HIM CRY). He was blinded though. If he would have made a Martyr of Maximus it would have shown he did not tolerate any sort of defiance.
He was a pussy though, he had to stab Maximus and give him a handicap instead of fighting him at 100%.
I read somewhere they are making a Gladiator II, Jesus.
It would be gayer than gay if they SOMEHOW BRING MAXIMUS BACK. Hollywood has gay powers to do such a thing.

They are finalizing the script.
Also, Matrix 2 and 3 will be combined into a massive sequal in 2003.

Oh god, a prequel. That might be even worse than if Gladiator 2 opens up in the colisseum and shows the black guy checking Maximus' pulse and saying "he...HE Eez ALIVE!!" To the cheers of the croud. Then Maximus would get up and say something like "Truly this is a fine day...blah blah blah" and everything would be wonderful...Until the camera zooms in on the kid that the prince had been hanging out with and he gives the shifty eyes motion. HORROR in the making.
Only with the help of Eddie Murphy as a happy go lucky spear maker and Brad Pitt as Maximus's long lost cousin can he hope to overcome this new evil!

ROCKY 6 THING ISN'T TRUE!! There will be no new Rocky.
But they are making a Rambo 4. As we all know, Rocky 2 was the manliest thing ever. And yes, even more so that Rocky. Just watch it again. Every frame of Rocky 2 pulsates with unmeasurable manliness.
Matrix 2 will be good. Even though they spent 12 million dallars for security for the matrix 2 to make sure absolutely nobody finds about the plot (I kid you not), leaks have reported that the script is very good. The Wasaski (whatever) brothers would re-shoot entire scenes over 50 times until they got it perfect. No wonder it will be called Re-Loaded.
