You guys download games all the time. Are there any translated versions of the Dragon Warrior 4 Playstation remake out there? I just beat the third one, and I was thinking about moving on to number 4 next.

Also, if you don't have a modchip, how do you play downloaded Jap games (or downloaded games in general). It was simple with Dreamcast, but I never tried with Playstation. Should I just use an emulator?

You need Magic Swap and a Flip Top, Google them.

And, of course, in doing so, I just realized that these are not backwards compatible with PSX games, so everything I downloaded tonight is worthless. Now I'm depressed!

IT is becausse I played it. well if you want it on playstation I cant say ive thought to find out how play NES roms on a playstation emulator

Yeah, it was a NES game, Outland, but there was a remake made for Playstation that was released in Japan. It was apparently supposed to come out in the states, but the studio that developed the remake stopped making games so Enix scrapped the project.

I have no advice because Ihavent used emulators in years. All I can say is if your rEALLY in to untranslated games you should learn hiragana and Katakana.

Do you just want a rom? I suppose I could half-assedly try to look one up for you.

I suppose translations shoudld be easy to come by, because it was easy to find translated DW4 on NES emulators. There are tons of DQ translation sites although im not sure which is doing this in particular. Thats all I know!

I did a half assed search for a translation. I know some nerds were working on one, but I don't think they finished.

Go to Torrentspy.com and type Dragon Quest IV

(be sure to use Roman Numerals)

It has a playstation torrent. Mind you, Im not going to actually download it to see if it works

Apparently the compression for the PSX remake was ridiculous, and then to further compound things the text files are apparently all over the place (which is why Enix couldn't just translate the remake themselves after Heartbeat went under as I understand it), so I guess there never will be a translation. Although the rumor is that Square is going to release both the remake of 5 (the ps2 remake) and 4 (probably for PSP I would imagine) before 9 comes out.

Anyway, fuck it, I'll just play the NES version.
