Yeah, it's not a voice overlap which necessitated solving.

I've seen it noted that in Japanese the voice actor plays the two characters much differently than David Hayter does, however. That is to say, Hayter plays them essentially identically (in terms of voice, at least, if not in characterization), whereas Akio Otsuka actually changes his voice.

That said, while I'm sure Kiefer Sutherland's performance will be fine and it's interesting, although laughably unconvincing, to see Kojima talk about how the FOX Engine's facial mo-cap enables him to write dialogue with more brevity (which is the soul of wit), and having a real actor should take advantage of that, I still wish it were Richard Doyle.

That said, I do feel like he's a much better actor than David Hayter, and his voice should fit with Big Boss.

I don't know, I understand the move since Metal Gear Solid popularized voice acting in videogames and was sort of stuck with not-so-great actors while voice acting improved in the medium over the years. Although I don't think Kiefer Sutherland will do a better job, necessarily.

What I'm excited is hearing Kiefer trying to deliver all the goofy ass dialogue Kojima writes. If they really wanted to make the series more mainstream they should have someone else write the script.
