I'm fine with ranchers owning a firearm, and firearms being kept in gun clubs.

That's about it.

I suppose hunters could rent a gun for a short period of time.

Gun control is a red herring because the USA wouldn't be able to enforce it as well as most modern societies would.

I voted for the second one, because I don't have a problem with people having assault rifles. They'll come in handy on the offchance we someday need to form a militia (it could happen RON PAUL 2012). There was no choice that really reflected my thoughts on this issue, so I'll explain:

I think we need more thorough background checks and there need to be more obstacles in place to prevent people from getting guns EASILY. It should be a long arduous process for a person to own a gun, and we should definitely require at least a basic psychological exam prior to licensing. What we shouldn't do is assume that anyone who buys an assault rifle is going to use it for a goddamn massacre. I went to a gun range when I was in Texas, and Marcus Cannon was there shooting off a half dozen different types of machine guns and ARs that he owned personally. I don't think there's any risk of Marcus Cannon losing it and shooting up Foxboro stadium. I think under the second amendment he is owed the right to shoot huge guns for fun. If the Batman gunman couldn't get an assault rifle he still could have run up in there with any other type of deadly weapon, and even if there were fewer deaths it would still be a tragedy that would invite this same discussion about HANDGUNS or SHOTGUNS or GRENADES or whatever he got his hands on.

The founding fathers had a lot of bizarre ideas about what kind of country the United States should be, and considering that they had just won a revolution, they probably put a lot of stock in the capacity of militias to use shitty old-timey muskets as effectively as their enemies. I fail to see the parallel between that situation and a bunch of retarded hicks like you and Peter going to shooting ranges and discovering that automatic weapons are FUN TO USE(!!!!).

I might have voted for this, but what if some crook figured out a way to make that one type of gun extra deadly?? And the entire nation is driven to its knees by one bad dude with 10 generic hunting rifles tied together and sawed in half.
