I was thinking recently that since Thor is a god does that mean that Marvel admits Norse Mythology is the religion of choice? Do they ever have issues where a hero meets the Christian god or even Zeus? I know some issues of X-men have Apocalypse posing as a god but he is just an ancient mutant and not a true god.

DC handled it like there was still some form of omnipotent being such as God that is still unseen, unbeknownst despite the fact that there are devils aliens Greek Gods timewarps parallel dimensions etc. If Sandman really is part of the DC then the "rule" is the more people believe in something the stronger its effect on the physical universe, ie Egyptian gods eventually growing weak and dying out, Judeo-Cristian God still holding a shaky domain. I don't know what the Marvel take on it is.

Greek-Roman and Morse mythology (among others) is public domain, also, which is why comic books use them so often.
