Does anybody know a good program for ripping DVDs? My friend told me about one that was really good and allowed for easy trimming of bullshit like commentary and foreign language captions, but I don't remember what it is.

I like commentary that gives me insight into what I'm watching and the people who created it, I don't like commentary that's literally "So, see any good movies lately?" or the commentator(s) clearing their throat(s) uncomfortably and making obvious comments on what's happening.

I actually dislike actor commentary, unless it's by the person playing the main character who is basically in every scene, or a genuine ensemble.

When you only get one person out of a group doing the commentary there are big stretches of silence.

I also don't really care for overlapping commentary from unrelated people, because of the possibility of them both wanting to talk about one scene from two different angles (Ie. as the director, and as the composer, for example).

What do you mean by ripping DVDs, ALDP? Just extracting the audio and video to a file (like an AVI)? Or ripping it so that it can be written to a DVD again?

DVDShrink seems like it'll be good for the latter, I wouldn't mind also having something for the former.

I too would like something of that nature. I have a DVD I'd like to host here for everyone to see, but every time I rip it it's something like 2GB for a 45 minute movie.

DVD Shrink works pretty well for this it seems, but I'm still without something that will actually burn it to a DVD.

If you want to copy DVDs, use DVD Decrypter.

Yeah, seriously.

I've said this before, but I have a four DVD at a time Netflix account, with which I receive DVDs, make copies (DVD Decrypter - DVD Shrink - DVD Decrypter), send them back, etc. etc.

My plan is to make a copy of my entire DVD collection so that I don't have to risk losing the originals when I go to Japan.

I'm planning on an 80s movie marathon tonight. But, I want to see it on my t.v using my ps2.
