You could also create or download a macro that does the same thing in Word.

Actually, I think Word normally checks for passive voice and lexical illusions, so you would only have to worry about 'weasel words'.

I don't really use Open Office Writer or whatever the Word clone is, but if it's like the spreadsheet program then it's bound to be much, much better than Word.

Open Office is really great, and the interface reminds me more of WordPerfect, which I always liked more than Word.

Shamefully, my ability to write was better when I was a 15 year old posting at MPP and got worse over the years.
