I really hadnt heard anything about this until this thread.

I know Magic Juan, civilized countries involve themselves in wars with other countries where thousands of people die and hundreds of thousands die and then launch a media campaign on minor cases on other countries to feel morally superior and use it as a campaign to subtly prepare people for future wars.

Also, reading the articles, tell me why exactly is this news at this particular time? It seems she was sentenced in 2006 and the ruling upheld in 2007, so why exactly in June, 2010?

And, why does every news article automatically assume she is innocent of the murder that she seems to be convicted (if they even mention the murder charges...)

Finally, is the issue with this due to stoning? If it was through injection, it would have been more "humane", therefore acceptable?

This is nothing more than another excuse for the west to demonize Iran and your acceptance in this is paving the way for war that has an effect millions of times more than a single case of a possible legal punishment of a convicted criminal

Pretty much all of your complaints are about the US, not the West, and the West has the same complaints with the US as you do.

Also, stoning is a very inhumane death, yes. Much worse than lethal injection.

No, the west has either been directly involved in many of the US wars (by sending soldiers) or indirectly by not taking a proactive action in stopping it (trying to campaign for UN resolutions, cutting or severing ties with US, working together to reduce trade, etc).

I can't care about this anymore, because Magic Juan's last argument just shows that I'm talking to a political child. Stefan, the CIA backed coup that overthrew Iranian Prime Minister Mossadeq in the 50s involved a lot of Iranian players, including Iranians on the street and the return of the Shah that also happens to be Iranian (!!).

That does not mean that the CIA is behind HRW Iranian agency (not that it would surprise me) but that the western propaganda campaign takes such a case and exploits it for its own needs. Another example is Iran's "Green Movement".
