is leaking memory all over the place since the latest update! Time to switch to Chrome.

If you're leaking memory then it's almost certainly a bad extension.

If you're saying this because Firefox uses a lot of memory, then you should know that Chrome uses more.

I forgot that it clones itself for each new tab.

Ugh. I need to go through my extensions and figure out what the fuck is going on. Probably java. Been playing a lot of Minecraft lately.

Java doesn't have any memory leaks.

Actually, it seems to mostly happen when I have gmail opened for long periods of time, at least at work.

At home, I simply run too many applications to know what the main cause for the leak is. Right now I am on a chatzilla extension, watching live updates of baseball games on ESPN, and watching someone playing MLB2K10 on JTV. Firefox is currently using 323,000 K.

Web pages are really getting bloated nowadays.

And you'd think the switch to HTML 5 would have made things a bit smoother.

It probably just going to make everything more messy.

I don't think most sites use HTML 5 yet. IE doesn't support it.

We're at the point where 1MB pages aren't uncommon, which is unfortunate. Because that's not the amount of memory that such a page ultimately takes up.

The pages I work on are about 750KB, two thirds of which are brutal amounts of Javascript.

Whenever I start up FF for the first time after booting up, it takes at least a minute to actually start. Every time after that is fine. I've tried disabling all the extensions and starting in safe mode, etc., but nothing makes a difference.

Does anyone else have this problem?

I use Windows 7 and the Firefox beta and I do not have this problem.
