This is just a somewhat less-sucky Vista.

I'll go into more, but let's start with "XP Mode."

Since program installations, shares, documents files, and everything else on the virtual XP is in no way integrated with the 7 install, why the hell would anyone use some clunky virtual machine crap when you could just make a second hard drive partition and put XP on it? There's absolutely no benefit, other than being able to go into XP directly from 7 and not having to reboot.

And the fact that this is even available - that there was a demand for a capability of the new OS that would allow you to run the old OS - isn't exactly a ringing endorsement of the new OS is it? This is like the original OSX from 10 years ago all over again. "Oh sorry this is shitty, we'll put in an option to let you boot into OS9 so that you can actually use your software."

I've installed 4 pieces of software and had problems with 3 of them.

WHY THE FUCK ISN'T ALL THE SOFTWARE JUST BACKWARD COMPATIBLE?

And I hate the UI too, both aesthetically and functionally. Just that is a whole iceberg in itself.

I can't put my finger on it, but there's just something mildly and persistently unsettling about the physical attributes of the Vista/7 UI.

When I look at it and try to move around in it, it's like I'm stumbling. Or like I have gas.

I hate the see-throughness of all the toolbars and shit. It's visually disorienting. I want solid colors and groundedness.

Yet, no amount of "Classic"ing up the theme seems to help. Something just doesn't feel quite right.

Those big, fat toolbars. Ugh, and "gadgets." More like gaydgets.

Yeah I always try and get my display to be as classic as possible with little of their help functions, I just think it runs smoother but so far my Windows 7 laptop plays every game I have so I don't care.

It is funny how whenever I fix someones laptop who has a virus on it I say "To much porn" and they instantly get very defensive. One kid was just very adamant about how he doesn't look at porn and I kept telling him that he did and my neighbor said "Oh that is my roommate he looks at all that stuff not me." I believe the neighbor but it is still funny how they have to tell me that.

I have lost my System Shock 2 disk anyways but any computer I have at this time is to extreme for that game.

I used to play that game with surround sound speakers in the dark and it is the scariest game I have played.

Looking back at the graphics now though make it seem bland but the sound of the game made it intense.

The crew members were zombified and would charge you screaming "I'M SORRY"

Alright, I think I've gotten the hang of Windows 7 now.

I installed it onto a partition of my hard drive, put all my programs on, and started using it. I think I GET IT now.

I didn't think it would happen, but over the past 30 hours, 7 and I have had a WHIRLWIND ROMANCE, and I found a working activation crack for it, so I think as of today... between me and... Windows XP.... I think it's over between us!

Nine... beautiful years...

This was so sudden, I know! It happened so fast!

I'll be damned if I go 64 bit, though.

I am running a 64 bit processor, but, fuck you Windows 7 64-bit!

Maybe when someone can explain a single benefit of running the 64 bit version, maybe I'll think about it.

Yeah, I guess I should use 64 bit then, to take advantage of my 50 gigs of ram.

Chris, even I have to say that 50 gigs of RAM is quite extreme, maybe you are running a Counterstrike 1.6 server? I guess then it would be needed.
