So I picked this game up today. I guess I'll review it in one of those pros/cons things.
Pros: Production values are incredibly high. You can tell a lot of effort went into making this game as far as the character models, landscapes, and especially soundwork is concerned. The landscape is pretty sizeable and free to explore once you get going but there's so much unique stuff that you see something worth checking out every couple hundred feet.
The gameplay seems pretty decent so far where it uses kind of a strategy battlefield type thing where you gain control of "fan geysers" which power your stage and allow you to deploy different kinds of troops. This is also used in an online multiplayer mode. I've only done one of these so far and I can see how it could become very difficult and frustrating but it was also very fun so I'll say it's a positive.
You also do smaller scale missions that go along with the game's storyline and apparently there are different missions scattered around the playing field but the only one I've found is three identical missions of killing a small group of guys.
CONS: The map that gets you around the giant metal world kind of blows. I was constantly having to recheck it and finding that I'd been driving in the wrong direction for like 3 times the distance of whatever I was originally headed for. Also for this one mission where I have to race back to a camp in a time limit I had to keep restarting just because I couldn't tell what symbols meant what and there isn't much of a map key.
The combat at your disposal while fun enough isn't really refined enough for all the moves that seem to become unlockable. From playing I get the impression it's going to boil down to one or two basic combos being mashed over and over.
If you're not a fan of Jack Blackish humor you probably won't like this game. It's not Tenacious D: THe Video Game but it goes with a lot of the metal and rock worship that I personally find really funny and awesome but if it just pisses you off then you probably weren't planning on trying this anyway. Anyway for those who didn't read all that bullshit I just wrote the summary is: It's a cool game but rent it first. |

Coming my way this Thursday for $20. Sometimes it pays to work at EA. That and getting paid to play video games for a living (geh heh). _________________

I failed at business so chose this as a temporary fallback. No complaints thus far! _________________

Is it the bee's knees? I was supposed to get it but then EA Mobile instituted a policy that only their console division can buy games that are published but not developed by EA.
Also, I don't test games anymore ;_; _________________

I heard it was pretty short, Seru, and more worth the rental not a buy. |

Probably, though I've heard it said more than once. The demo was pretty awesome, though. I'll probably pick up used for $20 in a few months. |

It's short but who gives a fuck. The game is awesome and driving around running shit over while listening to metal is the best. |

It is short and I would recommend rental only. It's also a surreal experience and should be enjoyed by the masses. |
