DEPRESSION!!!!!
CAN'T BREAK FREE!!!!!

So I know most FTU posters are depressed. That's fine. I'm depressed too. What do you all do about depression? The only depressed poster who seems really intent on defining his personality by symptoms of depression is Theldorrin, but I think we all do the same in slightly less dramatic ways. It's a terrible idea.

In this thread, I want to talk about... depression.

Ah, after reading the post you posted after I see your meaning more clearly.

Let me clarify that I only hate being sleepy when it is how I feel all day regardless of how much sleep I've gotten, that is what I mean.

While I've definitely BEEN depressed, I wouldn't say that I am right now.

And what I generally go through BOUTS OF would better be referred to as "continuous hyperanxiety." But I know anxiety is closely linked to depression, or maybe that's just how my depression manifests!

Punk Rock Voice of the kind that I was talking about did not come around before 1990 or so, but it's hard to describe in words specifically what I'm talking about, so this will be a difficult argument to have.

Vinny, I know what you mean by that post but it isn't in the spirit of the Depression Thread. If Chris weren't depressed, maybe he wouldn't be such a piece of shit, and maybe he wouldn't do things that make us feel like he deserves misfortune and unhappiness.

There's a slippery slope when it comes to depression, and also a two-edged sword, in that it's comforting to say "This feeling is out of my control," certainly more comforting than to say "I am unhappy for these reasons and will be happy when they no longer apply."

Clearly, there has to be, a middle ground.

I hate the lack of having inhuman concentration. I can't really concentrate all that well anymore, but for some reason I gather that normal people are frequently worse off, so I must have had superhuman abilities when I was much younger.

I wouldn't say gay anymore, I guess, if not for the realization I had some time ago that gay is a word that doesn't translate. It can't be reduced to some other word. It's like "ironic," or "apple." No other word adequately describes what "gay" conveys.

"Lame" is the closest that English comes.
