My ska band broke up because I thought I was gonna be leaving Amherst, even though I ended up staying an extra year. We didn't get back together because I didn't like that band anyway.

My most recent band, Anti-Tank Dog, is on hiatus because I finally did move out of Amherst and everyone else still lives there.

Yeah I am. I'm in Colorado right now. I want nothing more to live in ZHONG GUO but to my parents, my happiness is second to my getting a degree for them. So I'm majoring in Chinese, basically as an excuse to go back.

Obviously I thought China was amazing! It felt like I had put a shirt on the right way I had been wearing backwards my whole life. I kind of stood out, and a lot of people considered me a foreigner(except when it was convenient), but I guess I'll be an outsider no matter where I go. Still, I didn't feel as alienated as I do here. This guy said that if you didn't get culture shock when visiting another country, you'll get it really bad when you go back, which has proven true for me. I pretty much want to put a bullet in my brain all the time while I'm here.

While waiting for my flight back, I was in the airport store and thought I'd drink to pass the time, reached for a bottle of wine, then realized I wasn't old enough to buy it. Things went downhill from there.

Are you asking why I'm even bothering to go to school and not just working so I can go live there? I think my mother would literally rather die than not see me go to college, and I owe her at least that for helping me go to China in the first place.
