I just beat FF V Advance. I didn't even bother with any of the new classes that you get at the very end of the game (rendering them useless since you're probably using Traveler at that point). It's kind of lame how most of the new content added to the Advance games is accesed after you beat it.

i got FF3 for my DS and I got the playstation version and I thought about getting the advance version but im not going on any big trips yet

FF3 on the DS is a completely different game. It was also pretty mediocre.

The big problem is that the class system in it is very bland. There's almost no point in using any sort of diversity.

I hope that's not to me because the class system is shit. You can't even combine abilities from different classes so in a way it's best to just never switch at all with the exception of mage classes because they get access to the higher level spells which really is just forced change and kind of gay.

That sounds like the American FF3 (FF6), where all the characters are basically the same, and there's really no reason to do anything other than to constantly cast Ultima.

That's only the late game. In the early game magic is mainly for healing while Edgar, Sabin and Cyan rape things. If you limit the use of Ultima or build characters up with their class abilities in mind they can be just as ridiculously powerful. Although Ultima is the easy option and that's what most people will use.

Only Final Fantasy IV and IX escape the stigma of similar character syndrome (And maybe II, but fuck that game).

VIII was clearly the worst offender, though.
