There's a evidence that the Pyramids weren't even built by slaves, because they've found corpses who have had bones set and whatnot. You wouldn't expect quality medical treatment for anything as disposable as slaves.

The whole Roman document thing is extremely important. They kept very careful records especially of people they crucified.
