Speaking of which, why is it that America just fucking hands the makers of Shrek 400 million dollars every time they make a new Shrek movie?

I just don't understand why it's so COMPLETELY EFFORTLESS for certain movies to make a gazillion dollars. How is the stuff that happens in Surf's Up worth like ten times as much money as what happens in Shrek? Does anybody think that kids know or care which of the two they're watching?
