I read the first two Dexter books. The first one is complete garbage because it gives Dexter and Brian psychic shit where Dexter CAN SENSE what his brother does in his dreams and creates a dumbass THING to make you wonder if maybe Dexter is the Ice Truck Killer.

The second one is better, but Deborah knowing that Dexter is a serial killer due to her being awake during the scene where Brian tells Dexter to kill her (Oh yeah, this is one thing the first book does better because LaGuerta shows up here, calls Dexter a faggot and then Dexter lets Brian kill her. Deborah sees all of this.) kinds of makes it weird. Like, Deb helping Dexter plot against Doakes and other insanity. Oh yeah, and Cody and Astor being sociopaths is fucking wacky in a bad way. The main good thing is the villain serial killer is pretty gruesome and mildly interesting. If the first book is a 2/10, the second is probably a 5.

I didn't read the third one because in that one they reveal that Dexter isn't just a regular serial killer, but he gained supernatural murder power from a demon inside of him and a cult is stalking him. I mean, fuck.

I'm pretty satisfied with this season, the TENSION in the last two episodes has been pretty nice. And I like that they're moving LaGuerta and Batista back into their old roles of super bitch and kind buddy. As the season has progressed, I'm less convinced that Quinn is going to get murdered, but Liddy is totally dead meat.

Lumen has grown on me and, somehow, so has Astor. Thank goodness we'll never see Astor again, though.

Also, there is nothing about this episode that says Astor is "never coming back."

If anything it's the opposite. It seems that they're trying to work the kids back into Dexter's life.

I was feeling really good during the season finale and then Dexter got sad, so I got sad, too.

I have to say, though, this season ended up being a lot better than I expected from the first few episodes.
