Pfft! The incidental music can be much better than the opening and closing themes.

This is certainly true for Naruto, HnG, Full Metal Alchemist and Cowboy Bebop.

I agree with you on Cowboy Bebop, but not on Natruo, i haven't seen the other shows, so we'll call this one a draw.

The main theme and Sadness and Sorrow are far better than the opening and closing music. Plus a bunch of the other stuff.

Sadness and Sorrow is so good. FLCL had really good music. Gurren Lagaan's music was also excellent.

Hikaru no Go uses the exact same 5 songs over and over again for background music, but they're all good so I didn't mind. I wouldn't explicity say they're better than the opening and ending themes though. DAYS!

There's actually a lot more music than you think.

But they use motifs from the opening and closing a lot, so it's much more integrated than most shows.

Most anime integrates the themes into the background music.

DBZ background music is full of quotes and references to Cha la Head Cha la and We Gotta Power and We Used to Be Angels. Maybe not to Detekoi Tobikkiri Zenkai Power, but that one is harder to work in. It's not that kind of song!

Well, I don't think it's true of FMA or Naruto.

It's hard to comment because a lot of the anime I've seen either had no music or it was entirely forgettable (DBZ for example).

I can't believe how horrendously gay it felt to only like 25 or so anime songs, how I carried this burden of shame as a chip in my shoulder (duh I like 25 anime songs) , and how some of you like anime music much more than I do
