Both of them sent troops to Iraq, although New Zealand has withdrawn theirs.

I wish people would fucking realize already that higher education is fucking pointless unless you're going to be some kind of SCIENTIST OR ENGINEER, and for everybody else it's basically a scam.

COLLEGE IS COMPLETE BULLSHIT.

I think like 40% of the people in the town I live have college degrees.

As for people I know who have graduated, not a SINGLE ONE OF THEM has put their degree to use, in the sense that their job or station in life can be attributed to their degree. In fact, the people I know WITHOUT degrees tend to be doing better than those with degrees!

Film school is the absolute worst too, in terms of the congruity between educational background and actually getting a job in the industry.

You work in SHOWBIZ by going down there and working and kissing your ass off, not through education.

Emerson says that the worst mistake he ever made was going to college (film school), rather than just going to LA and breaking in that way.

The University of Southern California (USC), and New York University (NYU) are the only two schools I know of that have actual film schools.

I recall at one point that MADali was railing someone (possibly Jason) for wanting to/getting a film degree for the above reasons Chris outlined, which turned into a criticism of all college-age Americans. And now!

The difference is I already have a BBA in Management, plus by now 3 years of experience in the Logistic Industry, with 1 year being as Customer Service, and two years as part of Sales.

But I dont enjoy my work, as evidence by now, where I have now woken up to go to work, and its 9:12 am, and I'm supposed to be there by 8:30, but I think I'll skip it instead.

Okay,s ince I called in sick, I have more time to discuss this.

Chris, I'm not looking out to be Tarantino or something. I figure, even if I am like a filmmaker in some crappy children's show for PBS, or making commercials in Dubai, or cheap music videos for Iranian bands, etc is fine by me.

The reason I want to go to school is to give myself some focus and an easier path to follow. Once I'm in a school, I'll be forced to dedicate myself to that fully, and then looking for a job opportunity would be the logical consequence. Plus, coming back to Dubai with a western degree always helps immensly.

School is the new religion. It's this dumb thing that gives people "goals" and "direction" when really all you're doing is paying some conglomerate for the right to sit in classrooms listening to lectures and write essays and shit and then be handed some useless certificate a few years later.

While school has a lot of disadvantage (they are always too expensive, they dont teach you enough of important stuff, too long, etc), it is still more important to go to one, then not go to one.
