I went into Taco Bell today, and this (white) girl who worked there was walking out to do something, and she was playfully annoyed at her coworkers (all white/Mexican), and then she loudly said, "y'all are niggas!"

And there was this black guy of about 21 standing next to me, and he was quietly like, "ummmm, y'all are niggas? I think... I think I'm the only nigga around here!", and he was genuinely kind of offended, and he was basically saying this to me, because I was the only person within earshot, and I wasn't sure what to DO.

I mean, what do I say, "YEAH, HAHA, WHITE PEOPLE HUH?" Or, "I can't believe what a terrible thing to say that was!"

So I just smiled and fake-laughed and shrugged, and I think it was the best possible choice.
